Lip Blush

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Lip BLush?

Lip blushing is a cosmetic procedure that involves tattooing the lips with semi-permanent pigments to enhance their color, shape, and definition. The procedure is similar to traditional tattooing, but it uses a special tattooing technique that creates a soft, natural-looking tint on the lips. The pigments used in lip blushing are typically organic and fade over time, so the results are not permanent and may require touch-ups every few years. Lip blushing can be an effective way to improve the appearance of thin, uneven, or discolored lips, and is becoming an increasingly popular cosmetic treatment.

What are the pigments made of?

I use Permablend pigments and the ingredients are a combination of powder pigments, glycerin, witch hazel, aqua, rosin, benzyl alcohol, and isopropyl alcohol. It is gamma-ray sterilized, vegan and cruelty-free.

Is it painful?

I use a 5% lidocaine topical for the first outline and first pass. Once the skin is broken, then I apply a secondary numbing agent that goes into the skin and should completely numb. That being said, everyone’s pain tolerance is different and some might experience more discomfort than others.

What lip colors are there?

I have a wide variety of shades to work with and can pretty much customize to any shade you want. But please bring in a few of your favorite lip tints from home and I can try to match as best as possible.

What do I need to do before my appointment?

Prior to your appointment, you will want to start hydrating more than usual up to a week in advance. Water is so important for tattooing the lips. If your lips are chapped at all, we will need to reschedule. Exfoliating your lips daily will help prepare and smooth your lips for the tattoo. You can make your own by mixing coconut oil and sugar! Smooth and hydrated lips will give you the best healed results.

If you are prone to cold sores, it is mandatory that you take an anti-viral before and after your appointment and even then, there is a possibility an outbreak can occur. For this reason, we recommend getting presribed an anti-viral or the over the counter vitamin, L-Lysine that can be found at Whole Foods, Sprouts, etc.
